Desirable Traits for Campus Representatives to Have

Being a campus rep takes initiative. The job requires a people-person who is willing to pound the pavement and meet new people. College students who are considering becoming campus reps should ideally possess the following traits as well:

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong social ties within the campus community (i.e. involvement in student organizations or other extracurricular activities)
  • Leadership abilities. This is especially important if student is chosen to lead a team of reps.
  • Outgoing nature. Students don’t necessarily have to be chatterboxes, but they should be able to step outside of their comfort zone and speak to people they don’t know.

During the application or inquiry process, students should expect to provide personal data such as a resume, a list of extracurricular activities, and perhaps validation of current enrollment.
